SteadyTouch Support
SteadyTouch is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app with an optional reading-and-learning module, built for communicators who benefit from clear language, stable symbols, and generous touch targets.
We aim to respond to every message within two business days. Please include your device model (for example, iPad 10th generation), your iOS or iPadOS version, and what you were doing when the problem happened.
Reporting a lesson or image
Stories & Learning creates each lesson with generative AI. If a lesson, question, or picture is ever inaccurate, frightening, or not appropriate for your learner, tap Report this lesson at the bottom of that lesson. The lesson is replaced immediately, and its subject goes on the list this device avoids when building new lessons.
You can also send a report to us directly so we can correct the underlying content rules. See Report Content for how.
Common questions
Does SteadyTouch work without an internet connection?
Yes, for communication. The AAC board, your custom tiles and photos, the free-form keyboard, the bundled voices, and all saved preferences work fully offline. Only fresh Stories & Learning lessons need a connection, because they are generated on request.
Do I need an account?
No. SteadyTouch has no sign-in, no subscription, and no learner accounts.
How do I get into caregiver settings?
Tap the gear icon, answer the short arithmetic question, then tap Continue. This is a simple gate that keeps a learner from changing settings by accident. It does not collect any information about you.
How do I change the speaking voice?
Open caregiver settings, then Voice. You can choose the speaking voice for the communicator and, separately, the narrator voice that reads lessons aloud. Voices are grouped by age presentation.
Can I make my own communication tiles?
Yes. In My Voice, open Custom and tap Add. You can name a tile and either choose a built-in symbol or take a photo. Photos are stored only on your device and are never uploaded.
How do I move SteadyTouch to a new iPad?
SteadyTouch data is stored on the device. Restoring the new iPad from an encrypted iCloud or Finder backup of the old one carries your tiles, photos, and preferences across. Installing the app fresh starts with the default vocabulary.
Is SteadyTouch a medical device?
No. SteadyTouch supports learning and communication. It is not a diagnostic tool, a medical device, or a replacement for individualized professional care from a speech-language pathologist or clinician.
Accessibility
SteadyTouch supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, high-contrast themes, adjustable grid density, symbol and label scaling up to 200%, and Apple's system Eye Tracking and Dwell Control. If an accessibility need is not met, please write to us — that feedback shapes what we build next.
